Lieutenant Henry Horace Baker

Henry Horace Baker was born on the 31st of March 1841, the son of H. Baker of 11 Upper Gower Street in Marlborough, Wiltshire. Henry entered Marlborough College in April of 1856 and left the school after the Christmas Term of 1857. He was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers on the 19th of June 1860. After a period of service in Canada, Baker embarked for England at Halifax, Nova Scotia on board the S.S. City of Boston on the 28th of January 1870. The ship disappeared at sea in February of 1870. There were no known survivors.
