Indian Sappers and Miners
Sepoy Aslam served in the 1st Road Construction Battalion of the Indian Sappers and Miners. This battalion served on the North West Frontier of India between the 24th of November 1936 and the 17th of January 1937, and again from the 17th ofJanuary 1937 to the 16th of December 1937. For his service in this battalion Sepoy Aslam was awarded the India General Service Medal 1936 with clasp [NORTH WEST FRONTIER 1936-37]. Gordon indicated that this medal was issued onlyto men in the 2nd Road Construction Battalion; however, Aslam medal is named to the 1st Battalion.
